Revox A77 relay for tape drive board
REVOX A77 tape drive board plug in relay
This is the correct modern new manufactured relay made by reputable international company such as Omron.
Available as a relay only or with base and new clip as well.
Do You Need to Replace Tape Drive relays?
Ordinarily NO! The original relays are extremely reliable and long lived. The contacts degrade if the suppression capacitors and resistors on the tape drive board fail due to age and are cracked and/or burned. If this is the case then take out each relay and inspect the contacts with a magnifying glass to check for signs of burning or discolouration. If the contacts look OK then the relay is most likely fine and can be refitted. It stands to reason that if you have to replace a relay, you must replace ALL suppression capacitors and resistors in the tape transport and capstan servo boards. Tip - never use or fit modern metal film resistors for suppression applications. They are unable to handle the very high surge voltages and current. Indeed Revox issued a technical directive to change these and warned to never use metal film types. Nagravox kits have the new correct high surge voltage type suppression resistors included.
